The 2004 Miloco 5-a-side Championship

On the 17th August 2004, twelve of the finest music industry footie sides met for battle at Battersea Park for the second Miloco 5-a-side Championship to be held. There was an excellent turn out for what proved to be a very serious and competitive days football, there was more testosterone flying than a field full of Bulls. The twelve teams who turned up for mortal combat were 679 Records, Atlantic Records, Biglife Records, FX rentals, Island Records, Miloco Studios, Mix & Blend - Engineer Darryl La Victoire and his posse of producers, Stephen Budd Management, Universal Publishing, V2 records, Virgin Records and Wiley's Roll Deep

Island Records Rangers who were more prepared for a '4-a-side' competition. The squads were divided into two groups and at 2.15 the first four games began. In Group one there were two hard fought battles with Deportivo 679 just losing to Universal Publishing and Mix and Blend just winning over Atlantic Records. In Group two not even Stephen Budds love of Arsenal could help them get whitewashed by Virgin Records, 6-0. Island Records started off their campaign well, beating Roll Deep Rangers 5-1. As the day progressed it soon became evident that Miloco were giving everyone a chance and as no one likes to come last they were working hard towards the wooden spoon. During one of the skirmishes on the pitch, Paul from Atlantic records was unfortunate enough to break his ankle and had to limp bravely
to the touch line. Fortunately the only other injuries of the day needed lots of deep heat and some new egos. As the games progressed through the day it was left to V2 and Island to fight it out for top-dog glory. In a thrilling finale V2 managed to win the competition after coming back from 1-0 down. On top of this they have won a day in our splendid Neve Room. Lets hope they won't be recording their football anthem, but use it on one of there great acts.

If you would like to look at any of the other photos taken on the day just follow the link above, to the photo pages. For those of you who did not manage to win a free days studio time, look out for our 'Spot the Ball' Competition in our september newsletter with a chance to win a days studio time in our Neve room.
