Chairworks - 'Viva CasVegas!'

The Chairworks Studio Overview

# The Chairworks is a magnificent, multi-functional studio environment. With a pristine control room spec'd to an extremely high standard, and a superb choice of recording areas ranging from expansive live spaces to various booths and amp rooms, there is a whole host of recording and mixing possibilities available.

Based on the first floor of the complex, you will enter the studio via the front corner of the 500 sq ft control room. The spacious high ceiling control room is daylit on two sides of the room. To the front is the first of the main live rooms while to the rear is the private lounge.

In the centre of the room is the desk and racks. An SSL 4000G+ 48 channel console faces towards a glass panel looking through to the first of the two main live spaces. The monitoring includes Genelec 1032s, Geithain RL906ks and Dynaudio Acoustics M3A & Chord SP1032 amplifiers.
# The racks are sat behind the console and are filled with an exceptional collection of outboard. Large selections of top-end dynamics, mic-pres and effects processers are at your disposal. Protools HD3 operates on an Apple Mac Dual Processor G5 with three Digidesign 192 interfaces and a choice of popular plug-ins. To the right of the desk is the studio's machine room, and at the back of the room is a stylish seating area that shares a window with an adjacent chill-out area / pool room.
# The main live area is split into two separate rooms together measuring a huge 1250 sq ft allowing bands to completely spread out when tracking. The first room is the slightly smaller of the two, and is accessed via some steps leading up from the control room to a set of sliding glass doors. There is a very large rectangular booth on the right-hand-side with a window providing great views across the town, and a mic cupboard at one end where you'll find a great selection of quality microphones.

# At the back of the first room is the entrance to the larger second room, which alone measures 600 sq feet, however the doors between the rooms can be opened up to merge into one vast tracking space. There is another booth in the corner of the room, plus two large store cupboards which can double-up as amp rooms. This live area also benefits from plenty of natural light through two large windows; one which faces the town of Castleford and the other gazing across neighbouring fields.
# Back through the control room you will find two more good-sized booths at the far end of the studio. Both provide more great sonic options for you to experiment with when tracking.

Next door to the booths is a warm and stylish chill-out room containing luxurious furniture, a pool table and kitchenette with tea and coffee making facilities. There is also a large window looking through to the studio, ensuring you always feel involved in the session even during time-outs! This room can of course double-up to serve as yet another alternative recording space if desired.
