Online Dub Service FAQs

When and how do I pay?

Once the session has been agreed and confirmed we shall require full payment in advance of the mix session. We shall send you an invoice and you can either pay via bank transfer, cheque or credit card (please note credit card transactions incur a 2% surcharge). All prices quoted exclude VAT.

How many tracks can be submitted / how should they be submitted?

Please ensure your track count does not exceed 48. Make sure that every track is labeled correctly. If you are having problems with the track count and need to reduce it we recommend that you bounce down any backing vocals to stereo track.

How should tracks be formatted?

We mix the tracks in Pro Tools. If the tracks have been done in a recording package other than Pro Tools please make sure all the tracks are consolidated or bounced down to start from bar 1 beat 1. We also have a 2" 16 track machine, so if your tracks are 'old school' like that, feel free to arrange couriering for your tape - your music will benefit from less AD/DA conversion!

Using plug-Ins?

If you have used any plug-ins which you feel are integral to the sound of the mix please send us two versions of that particular track. Please bounce down a dry version without the effect, and a processed version with the Plug-in.

Track acceptance?

Please be aware that the price quoted is to mix the tracks as supplied. If there are timing issues, tuning issues, comping, overdubs or any other preparatory work to be done we shall have to charge a further amount depending on the amount of work and personnel involved. Once we receive the track to be mixed, we will let you know if this is the case and we can discuss it. We have a top notch stable of great reggae and other musicians we can call on to add a flavour to your track should we feel it's required. Prince Fatty and the Mutant HiFi will not accept any work which they feel they cannot do justice to - this is a personal thing and in your own best interest so please don't take offence.

Can Reference Mixes be submitted?

If you have an idea of where your mix should be heading then any monitor mix supplied from home will help the direction the engineer takes. If there is a direction that you want the track to go down, and you can give us a track by an artist to compare it to, then let us know what and we shall give it a listen.

Am I allowed mix revisions?

We will dub your track so that we are happy with the result, and happy for our name(s) to go on it and be associated with it. Any comments and suggestions are gladly received and considered after we send you the dub, however we will only normally allow one round of this - endless tweaks and revisions will be charged for. Remember that the best dubs have a healthy element of spontaneity. Dubs that are too deliberated on with every parameter controlled and thought out, tend to be boring!

How long will the job take?

At the time of your enquiry we can give you an estimate when the job will be completed. This will depend on current workload at The Ironworks as well as touring commitments.

Call the Miloco office on 020-7232-0008 if you have any further questions.
